Hello From Sin-able Sweets!
Well, we have moved from Winter to Summer, so it is time to do a few updates on the bakery.
First, we want to make sure you keep an eye on our social media sites (we are on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile – this shows up on Google Maps). Last Summer, Oregon experienced some of the hottest weather ever experienced, and many things took the brunt of it, including Marionberries. We have not heard when Marionberries are going to be back in stock, but we are making sure to keep in contact with our vendors so when they do become available, we will get your favorite items back in. It also caused many businesses that generate heat to either scale back operations or close because of the heat and the threat to the health and safety of their employees. If we determine that there is a concern for our employees, we will do one of two things:
- We will not be baking anything after 11AM in the mornings. If you are looking to order cookies, if we have the order in before 10AM, your cookies will be available the same day, otherwise, they will be available the next day.
- If it is getting to the point of many businesses closing down, Sin-able Sweets will post on all the social media sites and our website that we are either closing early or not opening. Please keep an eye out there, or check if it is extremely hot before you head out.
Second, for some good news! We have a couple of new parfaits! There is the Strawberry Shortcake Parfait, and our new Tiramisu Parfait, both of which have been selling like hot cakes! These are recipes that we created for the bakery. The Tiramisu Parfait starts with our vanilla bavarian cream, then it has a keto angel food cake cubes (the same cake as the crumble is used in the Strawberry Shortcake Parfait), then the tiramisu cream on top with a shake of cocoa powder. There is a little coffee in this one for that original Tiramisu flavor, but not too much. We have also started doing blueberry muffin tops (as a replacements of blueberry muffins) and blueberry scones, and will be adding a few new flavors of scones and muffin tops as we’re able. We are also exploring bringing back the Orange Cranberry Scones, but first we need to make sure we will not have any issues with getting the supplies needed to make them before we start.
Third item is the CDPs. We have many customers using the CDPs, and want to remind you that if you are in the Portland metro area, and you are starting to conserve fuel with the high prices, CDPs are a perfect way to do that. The car we use is a 2021 Chevy Bolt EV, so we can get your favorite sweets and treats to you and still be helping the environment. Also, there are some date changes that we want you to be aware of in advance. As you know, September in Mount Angel is Oktoberfest. This year it is September 15th – 18th, and that usually affects our CDPs and shipping. For the CDPs, we have been able to adjust the dates so we do not miss a drop point! There are 5 weeks in August, so August 2nd and August 30th we will be doing the CDP in Clackamas. This will allow us to skip a week of CDPs, but not lose one of our 4 stops for the month. So on September 6th we will be in Beaverton, then we will have the Gresham CDP on September 13th, then we will skip the week of September 19th for Oktoberfest, and finally Lloyd center on September 27th. We have the full schedule for the balance of the year on our website, click this link to take you there, https://sin-ablesweets.com/pickupoptions/.
Forth, with shipping. There will be no changes in shipping through the week of August 29th. If you order by September 1, your order will go out on September 6th. If you order for shipping after September 1st, you order will not be shipped until September 27th. We are taking the 2 weeks before Oktoberfest to allow our small staff to get prepared for the festivities, and the next week to catch up on sleep and to get inventory back to take care of every customer.
Finally, we are working on a revamp of our website, right now I am working on the ordering section and processing of orders. We want to have the new website up and running by the time Oktoberfest happens, and we are looking to add a little more functionality to the website as well. This includes having shipping customers place their orders similar to placing an order for the CDPs and in-bakery pickup. We will make an announcement when we are getting ready to release the new website.
Those are the highlights for this newsletter. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at the bakery by email (reply@sin-ablesweets.com), from our homepage (there is a contact us form there), or give a call.
Thank you for all of your support for Sin-able Sweets and looking forward to a wonderful Summer!
